Are you an experienced insurance professional with a passion for developing people and driving high performance? We’re looking for a proactive and confident Team Leader to join our Underwriting function and help shape the success of a dynamic and fast‑paced operational team.
As a Team Leader, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth delivery of underwriting services. You’ll lead a team responsible for the day‑to‑day servicing and administration of client insurance requirements—ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and outstanding customer outcomes at all times.
Working closely with the Operations Manager and wider leadership team, you’ll manage workflow, support compliance, drive performance, and foster a positive culture centered on fairness, quality, and continuous improvement.
What you will do:
Lead, coach and develop team members to enhance capability and overall performance.
Manage daily work allocation to meet service levels and maintain high technical accuracy.
Handle referrals, offering strong technical guidance and support where needed.
Maintain full compliance with internal procedures and FCA regulations, promoting fair customer outcomes.
Monitor, manage and drive performance to achieve daily, weekly and monthly targets.
Support team members in identifying cover gaps and recommending suitable solutions.
Conduct regular 1:1s, coaching sessions and annual appraisals.
Ensure accurate logging of in‑desk coaching in line with the Training & Competency Framework.
Stay up to date with underwriting knowledge, legislation and market developments.
Manage customer complaints in line with company procedures.
Assist senior leaders with business operational or technical tasks as needed.
What we are looking for:
Proven experience supervising or leading a team, ideally within underwriting or insurance operations.
Strong coaching skills with the ability to motivate and develop others.
Excellent organisational skills—able to manage workflow and prioritise effectively.
Confident communicator with strong technical understanding of underwriting processes.
A positive role model who champions fairness, compliance and exceptional customer service.
