Commercial Accountant

Purpose of the Role
We have an exciting new remote opportunity to join our Finance Team as a Commercial Accountant. Reporting to one of our Finance Business Partners, within your allotted business area, you will help implement strategy with a particular focus on financial matters, financial decisions, identify difficulties, assess risks, consider consequences and generate workable solutions. You will be a conduit between the various finance teams, the business and your Finance Business Partner to ensure results are reported in a timely manner and accurately. You will also deputise for your Finance Business Partner as required.
What you will do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more.
- Support your business area leader(s) to deliver its strategic goals and targets, using financial analysis to facilitate change and improve impact and understanding of financial reporting on business performance.
- Complete and analyse financial information for your business unit and ensure that business performance is measured, analysed, explained and understood through the delivery of KPIs.
- Drive process improvement in the quality, usability and insightfulness of MI.
- Assist in completing the annual business plan for the unit and carry our quarterly re-forecasts.
- Improve budget and forecast processes.
- Support the internal and external audit programme.
- Support financial planning, forecasting and modelling of potential acquisition targets and carry out due diligence as required.
- Assist with the integration of acquired businesses ensuring their existing financial controls and processes are in line with integration timelines.
- Lead, mentor and develop others by providing structure and direction and ensure they understand the business strategy and how their contribution impacts.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who has/is:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or QBE) with experience in financial reporting and analytics. Part qualified will be considered if you can evidence progress is being made and will continue to be made until qualification.
- Proven track record of assisting in delivery of stretching targets.
- An understanding of the insurance market from a financial perspective would be preferred but not essential.

You will be organised, proactive and engaging with excellent communications skills across all mediums. You will be able to use your initiative, embrace and respond positively to change demonstrating the need to be adaptable, whilst meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
