IT Delivery Field Engineer

Purpose of the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Delivery Field Engineer to join us supporting the IT infrastructure, network and telephony elements of our Change Portfolio and IT “Small Change” Requests. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring all project and change deliverables are in line with cost, time and quality and will involve scoping, templating, documenting and planning for various change scenarios. You will work with both inhouse teams and 3rd Party delivery partners.
This is a remote based that will require travel to sites around the UK, provide out of hours support and weekend working, as per business needs.
What you will do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more:
- Travel to sites to carry out direct implementations and site surveys.
- Own Property Moves and Small Change Requests from concept to implementation.
- Work directly with business units (IT and Operations) to understand requirements.
- Manage internal project resources and 3rd parties to deliver desired outcomes.
- Work alongside assigned Project Managers to develop robust project plans and identify dependencies and resource clashes between different projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency across multiple projects.
- Feed into project and portfolio level reporting.
- Ensure key stakeholders both within and outside IT are kept appropriately informed of progress and any emerging risks and issues.
- Lead and support infrastructure design activities.
- Identify, develop and deliver continuous improvement actions.
- Support due diligence reviews for M&A activity.
- Document change activities and follow governance procedures set out by the Group.
Who we are looking for
This is an opportunity for an expert who has experience:
- leading successful property change projects and a mixed IT skillset particularly around networking equipment and other IT peripherals.
- defining project scope, financial management, defining deliverables and outcomes, activity planning and scheduling.
- sizing infrastructure and implementing technical solutions.
- managing change documentation
- troubleshooting IT issues
- ITIL, and ideally Prince 2.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders at all levels and communicate across all mediums, ensuring language used is adapted to the recipients. Your technical ability will need to be highly competent and you must be able to multi-task, working on multiple work streams at any one time. You will need to be a team player, lead by example, self-motivated and able to operate independently. Excellent organisation skills, attention to detail whilst working at pace, maintaining enthusiasm, adaptability and willingness to learn.
