Finance Control & Governance Accountant

This is a remote based role but will require some travel to our Leeds, Harrogate and Bury St Edmunds offices as per business needs.
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance Integration, Change & Governance, this exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing team and play a key part in the financial control and governance of the Advisory platform to develop the controls and governance framework and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
What you will do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your line manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following:
- Manage the development, implementation and ongoing review of the financial control framework for the Advisory platform.
- Manage and maintain the first line oversight model of the financial control framework.
- Ensure key financial controls are operating in line with business standards.
- Define and develop reporting on key control metrics to be provided to relevant stakeholders and management.
- Outline the escalation process and ensure timely resolution of control issues.
- Work with the wider finance team to develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial statements.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of financial controls and governance framework with business objectives and strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications – ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
Microsoft Office - Skills to an advanced level, particularly Excel
Specialist knowledge – IFRS, UK GAAP, CASS
Experience – application of SOX controls in a financial environment
